Project Sanjeevani aspires to create a sustainable model for farmers by providing them an environment to sell their produce directly to the end-consumers. By eliminating the middlemen, we maximise their margins and create a win-win situation for both the farmer and the customers. We further aim to uplift the socio-economic conditions of Yamuna Bank farmers by designing a plant based natural air purifier to tackle New Delhi's severely deteriorating air condition. The thriving market of unreasonably expensive air purifiers with no other alternatives raises a significant question - Do only the rich deserve better quality air?
On the first front, we provide farm fresh vegetables to the end customer by providing the farmers of our partner FPO (Farmer- Producer Organisation) an opportunity to set up stalls near around Dwarka and simultaneously supply to other Restaurants, Hotels etc on the B2B end. On the second front, the supply chain of the purifier utilizes the services of small time potters and daily wage workers in dire need of empoyment, thus allowing for building a natural plant based air purifier.
Utilising a Crassulacean Acid Metabolism plant (CAM i.e releases oxygen at night), it has been approved by NASA for its air purifying action. When tested in a room of 120 sq feet size, the purifier reduced the PM 2.5 level from 120 to 44, 60 being the permissible level. It removes 80% formaldehyde within 4 hours and absorbs 90% benzene.
Providing fresh vegetables at affordable prices and bringing a 2-fold increase in the income of 115 beneficiaries, Project Sanjeevani has been incredibly successful in the first phase of its working. The farmers have also benefited through improved retail management skills and financial awareness. On the other hand, the B2B and B2C models have built strong partnerships with satisfied customers.
