Project Urjal aims to provide permanent access to light in the slums and economically weaker areas of Delhi by installation of solar water bulbs which require minimal making and negligible maintenance cost. This is a first of its kind initiatove that aims to achieve energy efficient solutions and not only create a positive impact on environment but also allow yearly savings on electricity bills. Innovative solutions that provide a multitude of benefits to the needy are what we at Project Urjal strive for.
The bulbs would be installed in slums and economically weaker areas of Delhi and will be sold to the people at a very subsidized rate. The water bulbs will be made by unskilled as well as skilled workers who will be taught everything, from the basic electric circuit involved to the assembly and installation of the product. This will ensure a permanent source of income for the unskilled labourers and double the income of the skilled ones.By the end of this year we wish to light up more than 200 houses, creating more than 20 entrepreneurs.
